Council Approval

Council Approval

Trees in urban environments are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) developed by Local councils for their local areas. This includes trees on private properties.

TPOs aim to manage and enhance trees in the local area by requiring consent for actions which are likely to impact on their health, and or on the landscape of that local area.

Each Local Council has its own TPO particular to the needs of that local area. It is important that when thinking about undertaking ANY tree work you first refer to the TPO of your cocal council.

The TPO will clearly explain what you will need to do in regards to your tree, and it may indeed advise you to consult an arborist. TPOs clearly state exemptions where consent may not be required.

Where consent is required, this will involve a written application form, accompanied in many cases by a fee to council.

NSW Tree Services can assist you in applying to your local council for approval.
